About
Organized by local design industry leaders, in collaboration with the Society of Design Administration, Canstruction LA invites teams of prominent Los Angeles architects, engineers, and designers to create exciting structures made entirely of cans of food to be put on public display and awarded prizes by a panel of judges. Prizes include “Juror’s Favorite,” “Best Meal,” “Best Use of Labels,” and “Structural Ingenuity.”
At the event’s completion, the cans are donated to the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank. Canstruction — produced under the auspices of the Society for Design Administration — has been held in over 100 cities across the United States and Canada. Over the last five years Canstruction LA has raised over 197,525 cans of food for the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank. This year’s event will once again take place inside the historic Farmers & Merchants Bank as part of the Downtown Art Walk. Examples of works from contests in other cities can be found at www.canstruction.org.
